There are two ways to get involved:
1) Participate in Our Research Study
The Projects:
Laboratory for the Brain Dynamics of Language conducts research centered on:
- How people retrieve words when they speak.
- How people monitor their speech production when they speak. Or in other words, how do they try to catch themselves before making errors?
- How these processes are affected and compensated for after stroke.
Who is Eligible?
We are looking for individuals who fit into the following categories:
- Experienced a single stroke more than 6 months ago
- Control participants matched in age & other demographics
- Healthy controls between 18 and 80 years of age
Why Participate?
- Help us learn more about how we use our brain to speak
- Help us learn more about language disorders so that we can use that information to inform future treatment approaches
Participant Tasks
Participants may be asked to complete various language and cognitive assessments, including:
- Naming pictures
- Generating verbs
- Pressing buttons according to words or pictures presented on a computer screen
Different projects can use different measuring techniques like:
- Behavioral Testing
- Electroencephalography (EEG)
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Eye-tracking (ET)
- Magnetoencephalography (MEG)
